Is my browsing history really private?

Yes. Histiq stores everything in your browser's local IndexedDB. Embeddings are generated on your device with a small in-browser model (Xenova/MiniLM). Nothing is sent to any server. You can verify by inspecting the extension's network requests — there are none for your history.

How does the 14-day trial work?

The trial runs entirely inside the extension and starts on install — no signup, no card, no account. All features are unlocked for 14 days from day one. After that, pick a plan (Monthly, Annual, or Lifetime) to keep using semantic search.

What happens after my trial ends?

Your indexed history is frozen — not deleted. You won't be able to search until you subscribe, but all your data is preserved locally. Subscribe anytime and everything is instantly available again. If you don't subscribe within 30 days of trial end, data is cleared.

Does Histiq work on Firefox and Edge?

Yes. Histiq is available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. All features — semantic search, local indexing, PDF support, privacy filters — work identically across all three browsers.

How does AI semantic search work without sending data anywhere?

When you visit a page, Histiq runs a small embedding model (Xenova/MiniLM, ~25MB) directly in your browser to convert the page content into a 384-dimensional vector. When you search, your query is converted the same way, and the closest matches are returned via cosine similarity — all on your device. No external API, no model server, no cloud.

Does Histiq index PDFs?

Yes. When you open a PDF in your browser, Histiq automatically detects it, extracts the text layer using PDF.js, and indexes it in chunks — just like a web page. You can search across research papers, contracts, documentation, and any text-based PDF by meaning, not filename. PDFs up to 50 MB are supported.

Will my browser slow down?

No. Indexing happens in a background service worker with idle-priority scheduling. Embedding generation is throttled to use unused CPU cycles. On a modern laptop, you won't notice Histiq is running.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
