1. Who We Are

Histiq is operated by Infivion LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with the Histiq browser extension and website at histiq.com.

2. What Histiq Does NOT Collect

We want to be explicit. The following data never leaves your device and is never accessible to Infivion LLC:

• Your browsing history (URLs, page titles, timestamps)
• The content of pages you visit
• Your search queries within Histiq
• Embeddings and vector indexes generated from your history

All of the above is stored exclusively in your browser’s local IndexedDB. Histiq makes no outbound network requests involving this data.

3. What We Do Collect

3.1 License Validation

When you activate a paid subscription, the extension sends a license key validation request directly to our third-party payment processor’s API. This request includes:

• Your license key (provided after purchase)
• An anonymous installation identifier (a locally generated random ID, not linked to your identity)

Infivion LLC does not log these requests on our own servers. The payment processor’s data handling is governed by their own privacy policy, available on their website.

3.2 Website Analytics — Google Analytics

The histiq.com website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (pages visited, country, device type, referral source). Analytics cookies are loaded only after you give consent via the cookie banner.

Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymization enabled. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or remarketing. Data collected is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

You can opt out at any time by withdrawing consent through the cookie preferences icon on the website, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3.3 Payment Information

All purchases are processed by a third-party payment processor that acts as our Merchant of Record. Infivion LLC never sees, stores, or has access to your payment card details, billing address, or payment history. Checkout is hosted on the payment processor’s own infrastructure.

3.4 Support Communications

If you contact us at support@histiq.com, we will have your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry and do not add you to any marketing list without your explicit consent.

4. Local AI Processing

Histiq runs a small embedding model (Xenova/all-MiniLM-L6-v2, ~25MB) directly inside your browser. This model converts page content into numerical vectors used for semantic search. The model is downloaded once on first use and runs entirely on your device thereafter.

No external AI service is contacted for indexing or search. There are no OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, or other cloud LLM calls made by Histiq.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your browsing history index is stored in your browser’s IndexedDB — the same storage mechanism used by web applications for local data. It is:

• Accessible only to the Histiq extension within your browser
• Never synced to any cloud service by Histiq
• Cleared when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data

The license key is stored in chrome.storage.local / browser local storage and is accessible only to the Histiq extension.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

6.1 Histiq Browser Extension

The Histiq browser extension does not use cookies. All extension data is stored in your browser’s local IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local, accessible only to the extension itself.

6.2 histiq.com Website

The histiq.com website uses two categories of cookies, in line with GDPR and ePrivacy Directive requirements:

• Strictly necessary (functional): Required for the website to function — including session management, security, remembering your cookie preferences, and processing payments. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent.
• Statistics: We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are popular. All data is aggregated and IP-anonymized. Statistics cookies are set only after you give consent via the cookie banner.

We do not use marketing, advertising, or retargeting cookies.

6.3 Your Choices

On first visit, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can:

• Accept all categories.
• Reject non-essential categories (statistics).
• Manage individual preferences.
• Withdraw consent at any time by clicking the cookie icon in the bottom corner of the page.

Refusing non-essential cookies will not affect your ability to use the website or purchase Histiq.

6.4 Checkout Widget

The payment widget is loaded only on the checkout page and is necessary to complete a transaction. As an essential service for fulfilling a contract, it does not require separate consent under applicable law.

7. Children’s Privacy

Histiq is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

• Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data. Your browsing history is on your device — you can delete it anytime by uninstalling the extension or clearing IndexedDB via browser DevTools.
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Objection: Object to certain processing.

To exercise any rights, email support@histiq.com. We will respond within 30 days. For payment data, contact our payment processor through the receipt or invoice they sent you.

9. Data Retention

• License validation records — retained by our payment processor per their policy.
• Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months in aggregated form.
• Support emails — retained for up to 2 years or until you request deletion.
• Your local index — retained on your device until you uninstall or clear it. After trial expiry without subscription, the index is cleared after 30 days.

10. International Transfers

Infivion LLC is based in the United States. If you access Histiq from the EU, UK, or other regions with data protection laws:

• Your browsing data never leaves your device — no transfer occurs.
• Payment data is handled by our payment processor, which complies with GDPR and other applicable regulations.
• Analytics data is processed by Google in line with their applicable safeguards.
• Any support communications sent to us are processed in the United States.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
